This here is an showcase / analysis of 40 (selected) swatch-libraries I created for maps I chose for a portfolio presenting my work at a Dutch landscaping/urban design company.
Working for about 10 years as a (graphical) urban space designer at a Dutch landscaping/urban design company I took part in many projects where my job was mainly to design the presentation of these projects. Naturally maps were always part of a presentation.
At the start of a project you had maps for analysis of a location, in between you had more analysis and maps of the design progress and at the end you had the final presentation map.
Since the companies procedure was to always start from scratch, from the locations characteristics/features, I would always determine the swatches I would work with in a project at the start of it, inspired by its location. An exception on this were competitions, where the graphic style and thus the swatches would be more daring and eye-catching.
